February 17th-March 26th, 2010-National Museum Volunteers (NMV) Guiding Workshop
Learn more about Thai art, history, religion and culture.
Every year the National Museum Volunteers holds a Guiding Workshop to train potential guides for the National Museum Bangkok (NMB). This is a great opportunity to discover the amazing treasures contained within the National Museum and learn so much more about Thai art, history, religion and cultural aspects, a useful foundation for further study.
The English Guiding Workshop lasts for six weeks every Wednesday and Friday morning starting on 17 February 2010 at the NMB. Lectures include the following topics:
• Hinduism and the Great Gods with a tour of Hindu Images • History of Pre-Thai to the Thonburi period followed by tour • Evolution of the Buddha Image followed by tour of Buddha Images • Art and history of the Bangkok period followed by Wang Na Palace tour The last two weeks of the Workshop are spent on in-depth tours of the NMB and developing guiding skills.
Cost: 2,000 baht for NMV members only. Numbers are limited.
For more information or to register for the workshop, email information@museumvolunteersbkk.net See also our website www.museumvolunteersbkk.net
One of the main functions of the NMV is to offer foreign language tours of the museum in English, French, German and Japanese. We are pleased therefore to announce the English Guiding workshop starting in February. The workshop is for all people who wish to learn more about the rich cultural heritage of the region, while also sharing the fun of becoming part of an international group interested in understanding more about our host country, a great experience which many people consider the highlight of their stay in Bangkok.
