About BAMBI

B.A.M.B.I. (Bangkok Mothers & Babies International) (1982): a project of the Childbirth & Breastfeeding Foundation of Thailand. (CBFT). We are a non-profit organization run by volunteer mothers. Our Aim is to provide support and companionship for pregnant women and parents of young children of all nationalities in Bangkok.

BAMBI supports all mums whatever their birth and baby feeding choices may be. At the same time we promote what is considered by UNICEF, the WHO and the Thai government as 'best practice' to promote and support healthy mums and babies.

Charity Work

BAMBI is a non-profit organization. Surplus funds raised through membership, donations and activities are donated to local charities which reflect BAMBI's concerns and priorities. Our charities team is committed to helping a number of local charities that are focused on children and/or mothers. We make regular visits to and ensure that the funds and items that BAMBI members have donated are being used appropriately. In any given year, the committee may choose to focus on one or two charities as principle benefactors. BAMBI charities team collects necessary items to donate, distributes (or facilitates) donations of items, motivates/facilitates volunteers, organizes fundraising events, raises awareness of BAMBI members of organizations to support.

Donations

Donations of used goods are always greatly appreciated. The charities team will try to sell any good quality items (baby equipment, books, toys, etc.) in BAMBI Yard Sales. The unsold goods are passed to the charities we support. We are always looking for new ideas for worthy causes to support. Please let us know if you know of any charity which could use our help. Volunteering

BAMBI is managed by a member-elected group of volunteers.  Some positions require a larger time commitment, while others simply require that you have a smiling face and give a little time. Some positions can be fulfilled almost entirely from home, while others will have you out and about at various BAMBI functions and in the community.

Benefits

•  Work with a great group of like-minded people and feel involved.
•  Take a role in directing the future of BAMBI.
•  Have something concrete to put on your resume.

Remuneration

•  Ummmm… zero! But entrance fees are waived for committee members attending BAMBI playgroups and events (including Bumps & Babies, Yard Sales, parties and special events).

Expectations

•  All Voting Positions Committee Members are required to attend the monthly committee meeting.
•  You and your family come first. As a volunteer you will be expected to do what you say you will do, but with the understanding that being the parent of young children often brings unexpected situations. You will form part of a team of parents – everyone is in the same boat!
•  Whilst the committee year runs for 12 months, many of us are unsure of our tenure in Bangkok. All we ask is for your commitment for as long as you can manage it.
