Dearest BAMBI members,

Welcome to March! Is March the month for women?

March 8th is globally celebrated as International Women’s Day to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Please make sure to celebrate your day on March 8th!

In Japan, people celebrate Girl’s Festival on March 3rd. This festival is known as “Doll’s Festival” to pray for the health and happiness of young girls. People display graceful dolls in ancient court costumes on a tier of 5 or 7 shelves covered with scarlet cloth. Traditionally these dolls are handed down from mother to daughter. This was my favourite festival when I was growing up in Japan. I felt so special and proud to be a girl. So please do take time to celebrate girl’s day on March 3rd!

So YES, March is the month for women! Let’s celebrate because we absolutely deserve it!!

March is another busy month for BAMBI. I know many members are asking about this … Yard Sale! It is going to be held on March 25th at St. Andrews. Big thanks to Faye, Charity Coordinator who’s coordinated this long-awaited popular event! Please visit the sale and enjoy good deals.

Also, BAMBI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is going to be held on March 29th at British Club. At the AGM we will report on what we have achieved in 2017 and elect a new Committee, too. This year we are planning to have a Teddy Bear Picnic Playgroup at the same time as AGM @ British Club. Please come to support Committee and enjoy picnicking and hugging teddy bears.

Please do not forget to join us at Pop-Up playgroup, New Members Coffee Morning also daily playgroups and activities. We are constantly researching new venues/new activities for playgroups and activities, hopefully, we can share exciting news with you soon.

In the meantime, BAMBI is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. Volunteers could be mothers, mother-to-be, also daddies and daddy-to-be! If you are looking for a way to contribute to the community, to use your skills and talent or most importantly to connect with other parents, please consider volunteering. I have been volunteering for 7 years now, it has been very exciting and a lot of fun so far. If you are interested, please let us know because BAMBI needs you!!

See you all at AGM!

Akiko Cayne
