BAMBI News March 2016

View PDF Dear Members,On March 8th, the world marks International Women's Day, to raise awareness on women/gender topics and celebrate womanhood. In some countries, it is a real celebration and considered a national holiday, not less important than Thanksgiving or Independence Day. Please take the opportunity to celebrate YOUR day. You deserve it!It is not a coincidence that another important event falls on March – the women's month: BAMBI's Annual General Meeting, or AGM (31 March). BAMBI was started in 1982 by a group of seven new mums, and it grew, thanks to many other mums and expecting mums who joined the group and helped to run its activities. Although now among BAMBI members there are also dads, still the majority of members and volunteers are women. At the BAMBI AGM we'll elect a new committee to lead the BAMBI group. Luckily, some of the current committee members are willing to stay in their positions, but we are still looking for new candidates to fill some positions, so please go to pages 44 and 45 and have a look at the list of committee positions. It is a great way to contribute to your community and at the same time enjoy doing something meaningful, showcase your talent and skills, and engage with other wonderful parents who make BAMBI happen. We are especially looking for a Chairwoman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Website Coordinator. Please consider volunteering! We will have the first Yard Sale for 2016 this month on 5th March at what has become our Yard Sales home – St. Andrews International School at Sukhumvit 71. I wish Tini – our new Yard Sales Coordinator – good luck on her first event!!! Please show your support by SHOPPING!My mother-in-law just left after her Bangkok holiday trip, my cousin is expected to replace her in the guestroom, and afterwards probably my parents would like to book their annual visit, and after them, I guess we'll have more guests coming and going, as we are so used to. Luckily more and more new places and attractions are being opened all the time, so it is still interesting to host and take guests to new places. After eight years here, you would have thought I would have covered it all, but keeping up to date, there are still new spots to explore, new markets to visit and a few places I haven't traveled to for a long time and worth another visit. It is going to be busy here!*Please do recommend other members if you have visited a nice place/ attraction – our BAMBI News readers would love to hear about that.My thanks this month to Angelique & Yuka who are stepping down from the BAMBI Pattaya team. Thank you ladies so much for what you've done in Pattaya for our members and for your community. The Pattaya team welcomes new volunteers: Sally Nash, Rani Gulati, and Amanda Stewart. Good luck to you and thank you for stepping up!Happy International Women's Day! Ravit El-Bachar Daniel View PDF
